This Roman lighthouse is the oldest still in use today. It was constructed c. I-II aC (by the architect Gaius Sevius Lupus) and in 1788 the original tower was given a neoclassical restoration by by naval engineer Eustaquio Giannini. In June 27, 2009 it was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is a sculpture garden in the surroundings featuring works by Pablo Serrano and Francisco Leiro.
